Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. The label debuted her first EP, Pho, in October of 2016 when she began to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox has uploaded her music on the internet since 2012 with her release of her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The singer continued uploading her songs online throughout 2014, which included the self-released single Bound. She was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes, in Sweat It Out July 21st the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole had her sing her songs to the Dreamville Team later that year, as he wanted Rihanna to collaborate together on a few references. She was officially signed to Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was the result of her participation to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. The 21st of October, 2016, she released her debut EP titled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and was an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. She also appeared in 2018 in two of her songs with labelmates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. And Bas On Icarus. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on September 5. In November, she dropped two singles, forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. On November 13 she then came out with two additional singles, The No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, February 26, 2019, for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed alongside Cole as part of her Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. The track was launched with a music video uploaded to YouTube 20 February 2019 has been watched over 3 million times within the first 7 days. In December of 2018, she was an opening act for The From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
